Metastatic malignant melanoma is a rare neoplasm in child. We experienced a case of endobron- chial metastatic malignant melanoma developed in a 5 year-8month-old boy, who was admitted because of dyspnea and productive cough. Diagnosis was made by endobrochia 1 biopsy and histopathologic findings. He was treated with radiation as a palliative therapy. The result was good. Tumor size decreased and symptoms im- proved. The...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1990;33(4):456-462.   Published online April 30, 1990
A clinicostatistical assessment of the 134 patients with congenital intestinal obstruction who were admitted to the department of pediatrics and pediatric surgery. Korea university medical center from Feb. 1979 to June. 1988 was performed. The results were as follows. 1) Congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (43 cases) was the' most common congenital intestinal obstruc- tion, and congenital megacolon (24 cases), imperforate anus (23 cases), omphalocele (11 cases),...

LDH which are widely distributed in mammalian tissues, being rich in myocardium, kidney, liver and muscle, and which is well known to catalyzes the reversible oxidation of lactate to pyruvate. We investigated serum LDH & Isoenzyme changes in 317 cases of children with respiratory disease and in 117 cases of healthy children as control. The objectives of this study were to ascertain whether serum...
Left Ventricular Cardiac Output in Term Newborn Infants: Changes Associated with Closure of Ductus Arteriosus.
Ho Jin Oh, You In Park, Chang Sung Son, Young Chang Tokgo, Pyung Hwa Choe
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1989;32(8):1045-1050.   Published online August 31, 1989
We studied on leftventricular Cardiac output on the 25 normal newborn infants by using pulse Doppler echocardiography, before & after closure of ductus arteriosus, we also made closing time of ductus arteriousus by using pulsed & color Doppler echocardiography. The results were as follows; 1) The closure of ductus arteriosus was noted before 24hr of age in 3 cases (12%), 48hr of age in 19 cases...
Change of Cerebral Blood Flow Velocity in Normal Newborn Infants.
Sang Hee Kim, Se Jin Kang, Chang Sung Son, Pyung Hwa Choe, Nam Joon Lee
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1989;32(8):1037-1044.   Published online August 31, 1989
The purpose of this study was to determine the cerebral hemodynamic change in normal newborn infant before and after ductal closure. The measurements of cerebral blood flow velocity of internal carotid artery, middle cerebral artery and anterior cerebral artery were obtained using a 5 MHzpulsed wave Doppler and pulsatility indices were calculated from the Pourcelot index in 15 normal fullterm newborn infants. The newborn infants...
A Case of Methylmalonic Acidemia.
Jong Hoon Park, Si Houn Hahn, Kee Hwan Yoo, Kwang Chul Lee, Chang Sung Sohn, Pyung Hwa Choe
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1989;32(7):984-989.   Published online July 31, 1989
Methylmalonic acidemia is an inborn error of metabolism, which is characterized by excretion of large amount of methylmalonate, and is transmitted as an autosomal recessive traits. The clinical symptoms begin in early life and are recurrent vomiting, lethargy, dehydration, failure to thrive. Laboratory findings show ketosis, metabolic acidosis, methymalonic aciduria with normal serum cobalamin level, hyperammonemia, pancytopenia. Two treatment regi- mens exist and should...

Korean hemorrhagic fever (KHF) is an acute, rodent-bom, viral illness (Hantaanvirus) which is characterized by widespread abnormalities of blood vessels, chiefly arterioles and capillaries. The vascular abnormaliteis lead to impairment of function in a number of organs with resulting bleeding tendency and renal failure. KHF was recognized for the first time in Korea in 1951. In recnt years the disease has invaded the southern parts...
Echocardiographic study of left ventricular function in infants and children.
Tai Sik Kim, Se Jin Chun, Chang Sung Son, Young Chang Tockgo, Pyung Hwa Choe
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1982;25(3):217-224.   Published online March 31, 1982
The Echocardiography is a useful non-invasive diagnostic tool for cardiac evaluation without known risk, and its application in the diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease in infants and children has become indispensable. Especially left ventricular echocardiogram appears to be a effective technique for determination of left ventricular dimensions and volume, other echocardiographic index of left ventricular function. There are...
