Pi phenotyping in cord blood of 543 newborns.

Phenotypes and • gene frequencies in cord blood samples of 543 newborns were studied for Pi phenotypes for the purpose of estimating the risk of diseases associated with genetic deficiency of alpha-1 antitrypsin. We Have experienced a case of Turner’s syndrome with horseshoe kidney, hydronephrosis and gastrointestinal bleeding in a 5 months old female. The patient presented with huge palpable abdominal masses, high arched palate, micrognathia and hypoplasia of finger and toenails.
