Clin Exp Pediatr. 1992;35(12):1696-1701.   Published online December 15, 1992
A transient heart murmur is frequently heard in normal newborn who has no congenital heart disease. The cause of this murmur remains unclear but was speculated as hypoplasia of the pulmonary arterial branches or unusual alignment of the main pulmonary artery with its branches. Pulsed Doppler and two-dimensional echocardiographic studies were undertaken in 19 newborn infants with a transient murmur and...

or vice versa. But any specific association pattern of anomalies have remained unestablished despite of many researcherss efforts. Knowledge of the likely association of CHD and extracardiac anomalies may allow us to expect certain disturbances and to correct them, and lower the mortality and morbidity rates in children with CHD. The authors conducted this study in the hope of establishing...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1990;33(10):1333-1340.   Published online October 31, 1990
In order to estimate the influence of systemic hemodynamic change in cerebral blood flow before and after closure of ductus arteriosus in premature mewborn infants, blood flow velocities of internal carotid artery (ICA), anterior cerebral artery (ACA) and middle cerebral artery (MCA) were measured in 17 premature newborn infants by pulsed Doppler ultrasonography. The data was compared with those of normal full-term infants by...
Conjoined Thoracopagus Twins.
Min Young Lee, Young Yoo, Ji Tae Choung, Joo Won Lee, Young Chang Tockgo, Yang Seouk Chae
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1990;33(5):671-674.   Published online May 31, 1990
Conjoined twins are very rare congenital malformation in which twins have varying degree of anatomical union. The conjoined twins seems preferable to such as craniopagus, thoracopagus, ischiopagus and pyopagus. Because of their associated anomalies, particularly of cardiovascular system, and difficulties in delivery, they usually survive only short postnatal period. Successful surgical separation and long term survival would have been achieved in a small numbers...
A case of Transient Tricuspid Insufficiency of Newborn(TTI).

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1990;33(4):534-538.   Published online April 30, 1990
Transient Tricuspid Insufficiency(TTI) of newborn is a feature of myocardial dysfunction caused by myocardial hypoxemia secondary to reduced arterial oxygen content and excessive right ventricular work consequent to pulmonary hypertension.' Since Doppler echocardiography has been used to diagnose cardiac disease, it allows recording of regurgitant turbulent flow pattern. We report one case of TTI in a 36 week-gestational-aged newborn detected by continuous wave Dopplar echocardiography...

Acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic carditis were still important disease of the acquired heart disease in children and adults, in spite of improving socioeconomic status in Korea. Recently, many outbreaks of acute rheumatic fever have been reported in the papers from developed countries. We should be aware of such outbreaks of acute rheumatic fever and should pay attention to their treatment of the patients...
