Abstract
This study was undertaken to evaluate the prognostic factors of recurrence and renal involvement in Henoch-Sch公nlein purpura. Total 110 cases of anaphylactoid purpura below 15 years of age who admitted to Pediatric Departmen of Kyung Hee University for 8 years from January 1st 1979 to December 31st 1986 were analyzed clinically and statistically. The results were obtained as follows. 1) The peak incidence of age was 4 〜6 years. 2) Ratio of male to female was 1.3:1. 3) Clinical manifestations: Skin & subcutaneous manifestation: 96(87.2%) Gastrointestinal manifestation : 57(51.8%) Joint involvement : 32(29.0%) Renal involvement : 31(29.0%) 4) Recurrence rate was 19.1% (21 cases). 5) Risk factors in recurrence: 1. Duration of symptoms before admission was 5 or less days. 2. Platelet count on admission was over 350,000/mm. 3. Gastrointestinal manifestation on admission. 6) Poor prognostic factors of renal involvement: 1. Duration of hospitalization was over 10 days. 2. Renal manifestation of admission. 7) Following factors on admission were evaluated for serching prognostic factors, but they were not significant. Clinical manifestations: 1. Age & aex 2. URI history 3. Skin & subcutaneous manifestation 4. Joint involvement manifestation 5. Renal involvement manifestation 6. Gastrointestinal manifestation 7. Duration of hospitalization 8. Duration of symptom before admission Laboratory findings 1. Hemoglobin 2. WBC count 3. MCV, MCH, MCHC 4. Platelet count 5. C3,C4 6. IgG, A, M
