- Abstract
- Cardiac catheterization, cineangiography and surgical analysis of 220 cases of congenital heart
disease diagnosed by 2-D echocardiography was made, retrospectively from mar. 1985 to sep.
1989, who were admitted to the department of pediatrics Kosin Medical College Hospital.
The results were analysed as follows;
1) 22 cases of 23 were correctly diagnosed in ASD, sensitivity and specificity of subxiphoid 2-D
echocardiogram were 95.7% and 99.6% respectively.
2) 109 cases of 113 cases were correctly diagnosed in VSD, sensitivity and specificity were 96.5%
and 98.8% respectively.
3) 32 cases of 49 cases were correctly diagnosed in conotruncal malformation, sensitivity and
specificity were 91.4% and 98.8% respectively.
4) 44 cases of 49 cases were correctly diagnosed in PDA and other congenital heart disease,
sensitivity and specificity were 94.1% and 97.5% respectively.
5) In total 220 cases sensitivity was 94.1% and specificity was 97.5%, therefore subxiphoid 2-
dimensional Echocardiogram is nonivasive, safe, reproducible, and accurate technique.
