- Abstract
- Acute megakaryoblastic leukemia is an uncommonly recognized disorder that is characterized by
rapidly progressive proliferation of atypical megakaryocytes and their precursor cells, and fatal
course.
Abnormalities in chromosome 21 may have more than relationship to it.
The authors report a case of acute megakaryoblastic leukemia in a 17 day-old male patient who
was admitted for evaluation of high fever and dyspnea.
The infiltration of atypical megakaryocytes into multiple organs was confirmed on autopsy, and 21
trisomy with Philadelphia chromosome was revealed by the chromosomal analysis.
