Encephaloele which generally denotes a cephalic hernia through a congenital defect in the skull is relatively frequent congenital malformation whose incidence has been estimated at one in every 3,000 to 10,000 live births. The great majority of encephaloceles are located in the occipital area. Three- quarters of the childen with occipital encephaloceles are females. We have experienced a one day old girl who had occipital encephalocele associated with microce- phaly. A brief review of related literatures is given.
