- Abstract
- The electrocardiographic, echocardiographic and hemodynamic analysis were made on 32 patients
with atrial septal defect of ostium secundum type, who were diagnosed by echocardiography, right
heart catheterization at Dong San Hospital, Keimyung University during the period of 5 years and 6
months from Jaunary 1982 to June 1987.
Following results were obtained.
Out of 32 patients, 14 were male and 18 were female. Their ages ranged from 11 months to 15 years.
The prolonged P-R interval was obseved in 59.3% of the cases. The prolonged QRS interval was seen
in 40.6% of the cases. The QRS axis were as follows in order: right axis deviation (65.6%), normal
axis (34.4%). The mean right ventricular dimension index was 3.3±1.1 cm/M.
There was a good correlation between the amplitude of S wave in lead V6 and right ventricular
systolic pressure (r=0.66). A significant correlation was found between the right ventricular dimen-
sion index and pulmolnary artery mean pressure (r = 0.71).
