- Abstract
- A hermaphrodite in an individual in whom both testicular and ovarian tissues are present.
A 15-year old boy presented with breast development and hypospadias.
On physical examination, his height, weight, and arm span were normal. He had stage 4 breast
development and normal pubic (stage 4) and axillary hair. He also had hypospadias in spite of
corrective surgery 2 times. And his karyotype was 46,XX. He presented serum testosterone level of
normal male adult and serum estradiol level of normal female adult.
Diagnosis was made by physical examination, cytogenetic analysis, endocrinologic evaluation and
exploratory laparatomy with biopsy. We found both ovotestis without a uterus in the operation.
A brief review of related literature is also presented.
