- Abstract
- This experiment was carried out to investigate the morphological changes of cardiac tissue in
Adriamycin treated rats.
Adriamycin was administered (2.5 mg/kg/wk) for 5 weeks, subcutaneously. Cardiac tissue stained
by H-E and Trichrom’s method.
Clinical findings of congestive heart failure were also observed during experiment.
The results were as follows ;
1) Symptoms and signs of congestive heart failure (tachypnea, ascites, hepatomegaly) were
appeared in 43% (6 out of 14 rats) of Adriamycin treated rats.
2) Histopathologic changes of myocardium were local and observed in subendocardial lesion of
interventricular septum and anterolateral papillary muscle of left ventricle.
3) Histopathologic findings were hydrophic degenerative changes of myocardium and focal
proliferation of fibrous tissue.
