- Abstract
- We studied on leftventricular Cardiac output on the 25 normal newborn infants by using pulse
Doppler echocardiography, before & after closure of ductus arteriosus, we also made closing time of
ductus arteriousus by using pulsed & color Doppler echocardiography.
The results were as follows;
1) The closure of ductus arteriosus was noted before 24hr of age in 3 cases (12%), 48hr of age in 19
cases (76%), 72hrs of age in 24 cases (96%), 1 cas in 76hrs (100%) and mean age of closure was 33.2±
10.6hr after birth.
2) The left ventricular cardiac output was 861.0± 146.1 ml/min in time of patency of ductus
arterious and 819.6± 163.0 ml/min after closure. This result was statistically significant (p<0.05).
3) The left ventricular cardiac output corrected by body weight was 256.9±35.1 ml/min/kg in time
of patency of ductus arteriosus, and 240.2±38.1 ml/min/kg after closure.
This result was statistically significant(p< 0.01).
