- Abstract
- For review of diagnostic utility and significance of brain CT in children with seizure, we analysed
history, EEG, neurological examination and brain CT of 130 children who had vistied our hospital
from January 1984 to June 1987.
The results were as follows;
In this series, the frequency of abnormal brain CT was 37.7% and it’s finding kept in order of
atrophy, hydrocephalus, tumor, adnormal calcification, abnormal low density, etc.
The higher frequency of brain CT abnormalities was shown in cases of the younger age, simple
partial sezures (53.8%), focal abnormal EEGs (57.1 %) or focal neurological abnormalities (72.2%). And
cases that these focal features were compounded showed higher frequency of abnormal findings.
Brain CT helps to diagnose, treat, prognosticate such cases of younger age or focal features in
seizure type, EEG, neurological examinations.
