Abstract
A clinical study was made on 114 cases of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumoniae pneumonia during the period of 3-6/12 years from April, 84 to September, 87. The results were as follows; 1) Among the 920 cases of lower respiratory tract infections, the incidence of Mycoplasma infection was 25.4%(234/920). 2) The mean age was 6.2 ±2.9 years and the male to female ratio was 1:1.1. 3) There was no significant seasonal difference, but showed slightly increased incidence from autumn to spring. 4) Cough was the most common chief complaint (111 cases, 97%), and then followed by fever (42cases, 36.8%), the cases in which duration of cough was more than 7days on initial visit were 64 cases (57.6%). Rales were the most common auscultatory finding and then followed by whezing, coarse breathing sound and normal breathing sound (30 cases, 26.3%). 5) The leukocyte counts in peripheral blood were most common in the range of 5,000-10,000/mm3, the ESR was increased in 68.6%(>20 mm/hr), and the positive CRP cases were 80.4%. 6) Mycoplasma Ab titer showed significant correlation with cold agglutinin titer. (y=0.81x -f-2.28, R=0.207680, (p<0.01) 7) The most common radiologic finding of pulmonary infiltration was segmental lnllitration (54 cases, 52.4%), and then followed by bronchopneumonia and interstitial infiltration. Normal radiologic findings were found in 28 cases (27.1%). 8) After Erythromycin treatment, cough was improved within mean 7.4 ±5.5 days, and fever was subsided within mean 4.0±1.9 days.
