- Abstract
- A clinical and statistical observation was made on 102 LBWIs who were admitted to the newborn
nursery of Chosun University Hospital during 4 years from Jaunary, 1983 to December, 1987.
The results were as follows:
1) The maximum weight loss was found on average 4.9 days after birth, the duration of returning
to the birth weight was the average 9.4 days, and appeared to be slowly returned to birth weight in
lower birth weight group.
2) An average maximal weight loss was 5.1%, and shown to be higher in lower birth weight group.
3) Average weight loss of the LBWI per day was 16.6 gram, and average weight gain per day was
24.5 gram, not significantly differing from other reports.
4) In comparison to the growth curve of Dancis, a favorable result were observed than those of
Dancis in 1501-1750 gram group.
5) Incidence of inital weight loss was 80.3%.
6) During the first week after birth, gavage feeding was higher in the group below 1500 gram bottle
feeding was higher in the group above 1951 gram.
