- Abstract
- Children with learning problems are known to a social, educational as well as neurological
problems.
Learning disorder is usually defined as following children with normal intelligence and without
serious psychological problems experiencing serious degree of difficulty to acquire a proper skill to
learn, reading, writing and calculation.
These children are usually hyperactive, easily distractable, may manifests defect in visual motor
integration and various soft neurologic signs.
As visual perception may interfere learning as well as motor visual integration, 166 children with
learning disorder were enroll to this study to estimate their abilities.
And as control group, 1342 (male 651, female 691) of same age group were tested by visual-motor
integration test (VMI).
The VMI ability by various ages in normal male children was represented by Y=1.05x +7.7 (p<
0.001, r=0.60), while in female Y = 1.01x +13.9 (p< 0.001, r = 0.60).
The mean curve of male learning disables was Y = 0.65x +23.14 (p< 0.0001, r = 0.50) and in
female Y = 0.97x -14.82 (P< 0.0001, r=0.63).
The VMI ability of learning disorders are much lower than that of normal children of each age
group.
In male children with learning disorder only 6 out of 95 manifested their VMI score about mean
VMI score of normal male children of each age group while in female only 4 out of 71 had more than
mean value to their ages.
VMI ability is may be one of the facor which interfere the acquisition of learning skill.
