- Isoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura is an uncommon cause of purpura in the newborn infant,
caused by fetal-maternal platelet incompatibility. The maternal isoantibodies against fetal platelet
antigens, which are lacked in mother’s platelets, cross placenta and cause destructions of baby’s
platelet. A bady bom with IITP was diagnosed in the first day of life and treated successfully with
platelet concentrate of mother’s blood.
