- Clinical Observation of Truncus Arteriosus.

- Abstract
- This is the report on 10 cases of truncus arteriosus, experienced at the Seoul National University
Hospital, during past 7 years from Jan. 1979 to Dec. 1985. The results of observations were as follows;
1) There were 6 males and 4 females, and according to Collett and Edwards’ classification, 5 cases
were in type 1, 4 case were in type II and 1 case in type IH.
2) Presenting symptoms and signs were cyanosis (90%), congestive heart failure (80%), single 2nd
heart sound (50%), ejection systolic click (40%).
3) Simple chest X-ray showed cardiomegaly in 9 cases and increased pulmonary vascularity in 8 cases.
4) The mean value of pulse pressure was 41.2 mmHg, and mean oxygen saturation of truncus was 81.8%. Pressure gradients between truncus and pulmonary artery were below 8 mmHg in 8 cases.
5) Rastelli operation was done in 2 cases with good result.
