- Abstract
- Hepatitis B virus infection is a serious problem in many countries, especially Africa, Southeast Asia and Korea.
As we know, vaccination against hepatitis B virus is the most effective method to prevent hepatitis B
and the rate of anti-HBs formation after hepatitis B vaccination is known to be 91 〜99%.
We studied the titer of anti-HBs after 3 times of hepatitis B vaccination and tried to assess any differences
in time intervals between the third vaccination and the time of antiHBs titration during one month to 18 months after 3rd vaccination. We also studied whether there is any difference in .the effective rate between the
HB vax made by Merck, Sharp and Dome Corp, and the Hepavax made by Korea Green Cross Corp., and any differences by age and sex. A total of 201 cases between the ages of 6 months and 15 years were evaluated from May,1983 to November, 1985, and the results are as follows.
1) The anti-HBs positive rate and effective rate were 89.2% and 73. 1% in Hepavax vaccination group(130 patients), 88.7% and 71.8% in HB-vax vaccination group(71 patients) respectively.
But there was no statistical difference in two groups. The total anti-HBspositive and effective rate were 89.1% and 72.6%. 2) There was no statistical difference in the anti-HBs positive rate and effective rateaccording to the interval between one month to 18 months after 3rd vaccination. 3) The anti-HBs positive rate and effective rate were 85.7% and 72.3% in male, 93.9% and 73.2% in female, but there were no statistical differences.
4) There was no statistical difference in the anti-HBs positive rate and effective rate in. each age group.
