Abstract
The clinical observations and the significances of IgE level on 38 cases with bronchial asthma who were admitted to the Dept, of Ped. Dong San Sacred Heart Hospital Hallym University from Oct. 1984 to Sept. 1985. The result were followings: 1) The peak age incidence of bronchial asthma was 3 to 10 year of age. The ratio of male to female was 2.8-1 2) In the past history other allergic diseases were suffered in 36.8% of patient(14/38 cases). 3) The out-break of bronchial asthma was most common in fall, especially September. 4) On allergy skin test, the most common allergen of positive result was House dust mite. 5) Eosinophilia (T. E. C. ≥ 250/mm) was found in 57.8% of patients, and elevated IgE level (≥200l.U./ml) was found in 65.8% of patients. 6) The serum IgE level had correlation with total eosinophil count. The serum IgE level had no correlation with age of patients. 7) No significant difference was found between the serum IgE level in male and that in female patient. No significant difference was found between the serum IgE level of asthma with other allergic diseases and that of asthma only. No significant difference was found between the serum IgE level of preschool ag ed and that of school aged patients. 8) No significant difference was found between the total eosinophil count of asthma with other allergic diseases and that of asthma only.
