Serum C3 & C4 Levels and Its Clinical Significance in Acute Poststreptococcal Glomerulonephritis.

Abstract
Acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis is generally known to be the most common cause of acute nephritis in children and secondary to an immunologic mechanism. esp. activating complement system. And so there have been several reports on the change of serum complement levels in the course this disease. This paper reports on observation of change of serum C3 & C4levels and its clinical significance in 50 cases of poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis who were admitted in department of pediatrics. Wonkang University Hospital. from April 1984 to March 1985. The results as follows: 1) Comparing with control group. initial serum C3 levels were markedly reduced in most of cases and initial serum C4 levels were also reduced in some of cases but to lesser extent (P
