- Abstract
- From 1983 to June 1984, Obesity survey among school children aged 6 to 12 years(8,260 boys and 7,645 girls) was done. The results were as follows; 1)Based on a weight-for-age definition of obesity(97 th percentile), 0.92% of boys and 0.85% of girls were considered to be obese. 2)Based on a weight-for-age definition of besity (97th. percentile), the highest incidence was 11 yeara(l. 12%) and in order of frequency were 12 years(0.98%), 10 years(0.85%).
3)Based on a body mass index(K=W/H2-4), 0.53% of boys and 0.51% of girls were to be obese. 4)Based on a body mass index(K=W/H2-4), the highest incidence of obesity was 11 years (0.85%) and in order of frequency were 12 years(0.64%), 9 years(0.50%). 5)0.17% of the boys and 0.13% of the girls were a weight-for-height of 30% above the
mean value.
