Pulmonary Sequestration.

Abstract

The pulmonary sequestration is an uncommon congenital anomaly characterized by the presence of a part of lung tissue which is supplied by an aberrent artery from the aorta or its branch and usually has no communication with the normal bronchial tree. This is a relatively uncommon anomaly that requires arteriography for definitive diagnosis. We have experienced one case of pulmonary sequestration. The patient was 35/12 years old girl with the complaint of fever and cough. Serial chest films showed a large cyst with or without the air-fluid level on the posterobasal segment area of the left lower lobe. The diagnosis of pulmonary sequestration was made by aortography, which demonstrate tortuous aberrant artery supply the left posterobasal segment from the intrathoracic descending aorta at T10 level.
