- Abstract
- Twenty-six cases of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) who were diagnosed in the Department of Pediatrics, Seoul National University Hospital from Jan. 1976 till Jan. 1985 were reviewed. The onset of symptoms was between two and eleven years of age. The peak incidence was at 3 years of age. Both extremities were involved in 14 cases. The degree of involvement was not affected by onset age, admission age and the, duration of the disease
before admission. Out of 18 cases examined, twelve cases were thought to be inherited, and six cases to be sporadic. Mental retardation was noticed in three ca^es. The most common change in ECG was Rsr' in V1. Other findings were, increased R% in V2, increased sum of R+S in V2, deep Q in V6, and high R in V6. Serum CPK and LDH level have no relation to the age of the patients.
