- Abstract
- Recently, we experienced two cases of aplastic anemia following hepatitis in 6 and 12year old boys. A 6 year old boy was admitted to Jeonbug National University Hospital in Dec. ’82, because of frequent expistaxis and petechiae on entire body. He had a history of hepatitis 2 months ago. On admission liver function was normal and pancytopenia was revealed. Bone marrow findings showed hypocellularity compatible with aplastic anemia.
A 12 year old boy was also admitted to our hospital in May 9 83, because of anorexia and generalized jaundice, and had been treated under the impresison of hepatitis. On admission WBC & platelet count were decreased, but hemoglobin was in normal limit. One month later, pancytopenia was revealed. Bone marrow examination revealed hypocellularity also. They were treated with prednisolone, oxymetholone, antibiotics and blood transfusion. The
former is still alive for 15 months, with relatively lower level of blood elements. The latter died of hemorrhage and infection about 4 months after onset of hepatitis and 3 months after pancytopenia. Literatures are reviewed briefly.
