- Abstract
- 58 cases of epidemic encephalitis admitted to the Pediatric Department of Won Kwang University Hospital during the period of August to October 1982 were studied. The results were as follows; 1)Much sequelae occured in 0~5 age group and the mortality rate was highest in 6~10 age:group. The ratio of male to female patientwas 1.76 : 1. 2) The comparison of living place: urban(31%), rural(69%) The sequelae and the mortality rate were higher in rural than in urban. 3)The vaccinated patients did not result in the sequelae, but vaccination didnot influence
the mortality rate. The prognosis was poor in low socioeconomic state. 4)The sequelae and the mortality rate were increased in the high fever during admission. 5)The sequelae and the mortality rate were increased in the state of cloudy consciousness at admission. 6)Marked leukocytosis with shift-to-left finding on peripheral blood was related to the increased sequelase and mortality rate. 7)The CSF finding did not influence the sequelae and mortality rate.
8)The first H-I test was more positive in recoverygroup than sequelae and expire group.
