Statistical Observation for Pediatric Inpatients the Second Report Statistically Analyzed for the Patients Admitted to the Department of SRCH.

Abstract
This paper represents the statistical observations concerning the causes of admissions and deaths observed in the Pediatric Department of Seoul Red Cross Hospital, during the past 5 years from Jan. 1, 1976 to Dec. 31, 1980. The results were as follows: 1)The total number of pediatric inpatients during 5 year-period was 3,728, of which 2,278 were male, 1,450 were female and male to female ratio was 1.57 : 1. 2)In age distribution, the neonates and the infants less than 1 year of age were distributed in 902 cases(24.20%) of total admission, which was followed by school age group, 882 cases (23.66%). 3) Infectious and parasitic disease were the most frequent(36.29%), followed by respiratory tract diseas©(17.33%) and neonatal disease(8.29%).4)Major leading causes of hospitalization were diarrheal disease(ll. 64%), convulsion (6.41%), acute bronchiolitis, lomerulonephritis and pneumonia in the order of frequency. 5)Total deaths were 179 cases and the mortality rate was 4.59%, of which 4.38% was male, 4.76% was female. 6)Ten major leading causes of deaths were septicemia, convulsion, tuberculous' meningitis, congenital heart disease, leukemia, bacillary dysentery, neonatal tetanus, Reye syndrom pneumonia and brain tumor. 7)There was gradual increase in the number of inpatients but no significant change in the distribtftions of diseases and leading causes of admission during the past 10 years.
