- Abstract
- The medical records Of 99 cases of hyaline membrane disease who were admitted to the nursery of Ewha Womans University Hospital from Jan. 1980 to June 1983 were analysed and compared with the results obtained in the period of 1967 to 1975. 1)The incidence of hyaline membrane disease among the total live birth was 1.09%, that of full ttertn baby, 0.05% and premature baby, 12.99%. 2)The incidence of hyaline membrane disease among male live birth was 1.3% and that of female 0.9%. 3)According to the type of delivery, the incidence after normal delivery was 0.97% and C-section 1.40%. 4) Higher incidence and mortality were observed in the lowest birth weight group. 5)7.3% of the by-line membrane disease were expired within 3 days after birth. 6)Complication of the hyaline membrane disease were pneumothorax, patent ductus arterious, intracranial hemorrhage and pulmonary hemorrhage. 7)Autopsy finding qf the 15 cases among the 34 cases expired included hyaline membrane, pulmonary hemorrhage, liver and spleen congestion, aspiration pneumonia and subarachnoid hemorrhage. 8)The incidence of hyaline membrane disease from 1967 to 1975 was 0.6% and that from 1980 to 1983 1.09%. 9)The mortality from 1967 to 1975 was 25% and that from 1980 to 1983 34.3%.
