- Statistical Analysis for In-Patients and Mortality Rate.

- Abstract
- Statistical analysis for in-patients and mortality rate in the Ped. Dep. of Chonnam University Hospital was carried out during the 5 years from Jan. 1976 to Dec. 1980. The following results were observed. 1)Total number of admission was 7,119, including 4,712 male and 2,407 female and male to female ratio was 1.96 : 1. 2)Pediatric patients were consisted of 13.8% of all admission of C.U.H. 3)In age distribution, the neonates and the infants less than 1 year of age occupied 39.8% of total admissions and 56.0% of total deaths. 4)Seasonal distribution of patients showed high incidence in summer and autumn. 5)Infectious and Parasitic disease were 2,008(28.2%) and Respiratory tract disease, 1,106 cases(15.5%) and these two group diseases occupied more than two fifth of total admissions. 6)Major 10 leading causes of hospitalization were Acute gastroenterits, Pneumonia, J.B.
encephalitis, U.R.I., Acute glomerulonephritis, Prematurity, Hyperbilirubinemia, T.B. meningitis, Bacterial meningitis and Viral hepatitis in order of frquency. 7)Case mortality rate was 6.4% among the admitted cases.
8)Major 10 leading causes of death were Sepsis, Prematurity, Tetanus neonatorum, J.B. encephalitis, Pneumonia, Acute toxtc encephalopathy, T.B. meingitis, Congenital heart disease and Leukemia in orders. 9)Mortality rates of individual disease revealed that Sepsis was 34.3%, Neonatal tetanuis 28.7%, Prematurity 16.0%, Leukema 13.7% and Congenital heart disease 10.6%.
