Three Cases of Calyceal Diverticulum in Children.

Abstract

A calyceal diverticulum, relatively rare lesion, is a cystic urine-containing cavity within the renal parenchyma, which is lined by transitional epithelium and communicates with the pelvis or a calyx through a narrow channel. Usually, they are asymptomatic and frequently discovered incidentally during radiological studies for other conditions. Three cases of calyceal diverticulum were presented, which were detected incidentally during intravenous pyelography on children with urinary tract infection (Case 1) and nocturnal enuresis (Case 2 and 3). A brief review of the literatures pertinent to this subject was done.
