Relative Incidence of Various Acute Viral Hepatitis in Childhood.

Abstract
This report was conducted to estimate the relative incidence of acute viral hepatitis (all were under 15 years of age. Who were admitted to the Pediatric Department, Hanyang University Hospital during the period from March 1982 to August 1983 were evaluated. The following results were obtained. 1)The sex ratio of of male to female was 1.34 : 1. 2)The incidence was highest at 10 and 12 years of age group (28.3%) and 76.5% of total cases occurred at 4 and 12 years of age group. 3)Positive rates of IgM anti-HAV and HBsAg as followed: 111 cases (76.6%) of IgM anti-HAV Positive and 25 cases (17.2%) of HBsAg positive, 7 cases (4.9%) were showed IgM anti-HAV & HBsAg simultaneously positive and 16 cases (11.0%) were showed all negative. 4)The incidence of viral hepatitis B gradually increased as the age of children. 5) The relative incidences was distributed as follows: 111 cases were hepatitis A (76.6%), 25 cases were hepatitis B (19.3%) and 7 cases (4. 9%) were simultaneous episodes for hepatitis A and B. 6)The incidence of Non-A Non-B hepatitis was estimated to be about 9% of acute viral hepatitis in childhood.
