- Abstract
- Pneumocystis infection is highly prevalent in humans and lower animals throughout the world. The disease has almost alway been sporadic, rarely epidemic, and has occurred in all age groups. We experienced two cases of pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. They were brought to our hospital from orphanage at the age of 50 day and 86 day old. The initial X-ray findings were reticulogranular pattern with air bronchogram. The late X-ray pictures revealed pneumomediastinum in one case and atelectasis with emphysematous change in the other case.
The final diagnosis was made by autopsy.
