Statistical Analysis of Prognostic Factors in Hyaline Membrane Disease.

Abstract

Medical records of 53 newborns, who were admitted with H.M.D. to the nursery of Dept, of Pediatrics, Ewha Womans Univ. Hosp, from Jan. 1980 through June 1983, were analyzed. The relationship between the mortality rate and laboratory data, including arterial blood gas analysis obtained within 12 hours after birth were studied in these H.M.D. patients. Significant correlation was found between motality, and PaO2, PaCO2, pH, base excess， birth weight, respiration rate, and serum K level.
