- Clinical Observation for Hypocalcemia in Infant.

- Abstract
- Clinical observations were made on 34 cases of hypocalcemia in infancy treated at Depart'
ment of Pediatrics of Inje Medical College Seoul Paik Hospital during the period of January
1975-December 1982.
The results obtained are as follows:
1) Male to female ratio of the patients was 3.1 : 1.
2) About 67.7% of hypocalcemic patients were under 28 days old.
3) Serum calcium levels of all the cases were 8mg/dl, among which. 14 cases(71.2%) were 6.0-6.9 mg/dl.
4) Seram phosphorus levels showed above 6 mg/dl in 25 cases(75.8%).
5) The most frequent type of seizure by Volpe classification was subtle type, 16 cases(47.1%).
6) Suspected contributing factors were as follows: difficult delivery, Prematurity, infection and rickets.
7) Among 34 cases, 29 cases were on an artificial formula.
