- Abstract
- This work was perforrred for the observation of morphological changes and beginning portion of obliteration in ductus arteriosus. And also histological findings in ductus arteriosus affected by indomethacin (4ug/kg/day)
were studied. The following results were obtained. In the process of obliteration, intimal pillow became irregular
with the narrowing of the lumen and loose connective tissue was frequently filled into the lumen.
In the tunica media there was marked increased of collagenous fibers and PAS positive materials,
meanwhile elastic and muscle fibers were decreased. In ductus arteriosus of the 19th fetal rat after
the injection of indomethacin into maternal peritoneal cavity in the 15th day of gestation,
the walls were thickening and the lumens were narrower than those of same gestational age
in normal development. Some cases of ductus arteriosus were striking in that there
were folds of connective tissue projected into the lumen from the surface of the mound.
