- Facial and Submandibular Cellulitis due to Staphylococcus Aureus.

- Abstract
- A retrospective study was done on 20 cases of facial and submandibular cellulitis, who had
been admitted to our institution from August 1978 to August 1982.
The following results were obtained.
1) There were no differences in sexual incidence. 2) In age incidence, 14 cases(70%) were before 2 years old.
3) The most frequent site of facial and submandibular cellulitis was left submandibular area,
which was 11 cases(55%). 4) In 9 cases(45%), abscess formation, which needed incision and drainage, was developed. 5) Staphylococcus aureus was in all cases, which was identified by culture of the specimens
that were 1 blood and 8 pus. 6) All of isolated Staphylococcus aureus were sensitive to Cefazolin, Carbenicillin, Cloxacillin, Lincomycin, Amikacin, Kanamycin, Minocyclin, and only 2 cases of isolated Staphylo-coccus were sensitive to Penicillin and Ampicillin, in vitro.
