- 9 Case of Klinefelter Syndrome.

- Abstract
- A cytogenetic study was carried out on 9 cases of Klinefelter Syndrome referred to the
Department during a-3-year period from February, 1979 through February, 1982.
The following results were obtained.
1) The distribution of age at the time of definite diagnosis was between the age of 17 and
31, average being 23.8 years. 2) Mean height was 173.2 cm.
3) Chief complaints were small genitalia (4 cases), gynecomastia (3 cases), small genitalia ane
gynecomastia (1 case), and sexual dysfunction (1 case).
4) The most frequent symptoms were soft skin, no beard, small testes, sexual dysfunction,
absent or scanty pubic hair, gynecomastia, small penis, and loss of axillary hair, in decreasing
order. 5) Chromosome analysis revealed 47, XXY in 5 cases, and 46, XY in 4.
6) Barr bodies of buccal smear from 5 cases of 47, XXY were positive in 68%, 75.8%, 48%, 53%, and 66% of cells respectively.
