Abstract
We observed 197 cases of viral hepatitis who were admitted to the dept, of pediatrics in WMBH, Busan, from July ’78 to June ’81 and the following results were obtained. 1. Of 197 cases of viral hepatitis, 52(24.6%) were positive for HBsAg. 2. On admission, increased ESR was found in 58.6% of HBsAg negative group, and the mean value was 20.3+13.7 mm/hr. In HBsAg positive group normal ESR was seen in 78.8% and the mean value was 10.2±7.4 mm/hr(P = <0.001). 3. On admission, elevated TTT was found in 70.8% of HBsAg negative group, the mean value being 5.2±3.9 unit and in 29.2% of HBsAg positive group, the mean value being 3.7 ±3.5 unitl£^*C0.01). 4. cases oK HBsAg positive cases were followed up at OPD. HBsAg was found to become negapve within 4 weeks in 10 cases(40%) and within 8 weeks in 20 cases(80%). ^Conclusively E3R and TTT which are tested in the early stage of disease, may be helpful in the differentiation of the 2 types of viral hepatitis.
