- Abstract
- biopsy or bone marrow biopsy at Busan National University Hospital from 1970 to 1980.
The following results were obtained;
1. The requested cases for biopsy were increased annually, but the numbers and discovery-
rate of malignant and benign tumors were not increased significantly.
2. The numbers of malignant tumor after 6years of age were higher than under 6years of
age, but discovery rate of Clinicostatistical syudy was carried out on 1,440cases of children confirmed by tissue
under 6years group was more frequent than after 6years group.
The sex ratio of male and female in malignant tumor was 1.5 : 1.
3. Requested biopsies were E.N.T, general surgery, dermatology, and pediatrics in order of
frequency.
Among the specimens, skin was the commonest (262cases), and lymphatic system (170cases),
bone marrow (165cases), bone and joint (136cases), in order of frequency.
4. In 1440 cases requested benign tumors were 433(18.6%), malignant tumors were 165(11.
5%), and non-tumors were 1077(69.9%).
In 165 malignant tumors, leukemia was the commonest (44.3%), lymphoma(9.1%), retino-
blastoma (8. 5%), andnebo tumor (6.1%) in order of frequency.
In 268 benign tumors, the tumor of soft tissue was the commonest (53cases), skin (51cases)
and oral cavity (31 cases) in order of frequency.
