- Abstract
- The levels of calcium and phosphorus in serum were measured during the first 6 months of life in 112 normal infants to find out normal values of them. The total subjects were devided into 6 subgroups by age. The results? obtained 1.During 1 〜2 weeks of life, the average level of serum calcium is 4. 92±0. 33 mEq/L^phosphoruSi 7. 32±0.42 mg%. 2.During 2 weeks-lmonth of life, the average level of serum calcium is 5.03±0.28 mE/(j
/L, phosphorus 7.00±0.46 mg%.3. During 1 〜2 months of life, the average level of serum calcium is 5.10±0.23 mEq/L^phosphorus, 6.03±0. 51 mg%.4.During 2〜3 months of life, the average level of serum calcium is 5.06±0,25 mEq/L.phosphorus, 6.04±0.24 mg%.5. During 3〜4 months of life, the average level of serum calcium is 5.07+0.15 mEq/L phosphrous, 5.97±0.63 mg%. 6.During 4〜6 months of life, the average level of serum calcium is 5.06±0.16 mEq/L phosphorus, 5.83±0.47 mg%. 7.There is no significant difference in the serum level of calcium among different age groups, and phosphorus concentration is the highest during 1 〜2 weeks of life averaging-7.32±0.42 mg%, followed by a decline to 7.00±0.46 mg%, and to 6.03±0.51 mg%, during
2 weeksmonth and 1 〜2 months of life respectively. Thereafter it decreased steadily. 8.There is no significant sexual difference in the serum level of calcium, but mean, concentrations of inorganic phosphorus in sera of boys is significantly higher than those in sera of girls. (0.01
