Abstract
Seizure is the frequent disorder in childhood and detection of organic lesions is very important for both the determination of a therapeutic plan and the prognosis of the patient. Computerized transverse axial tomographic examination of 106 patients with seizure in Severance Hospital, Yonsei University from Dec. '77 to Dec. '79 was reviewed and analysed the following results were obtained. 1. The studies were abnormal in 51(48.1%) among 106 patients and decreasing numbers of abnormal findings were detected in the order age group. 2. Those with focal seizures showed more findings(55.6%) than generlized seizure(47.6%). Especially patients with increased intracranial pressure or focal neurologic signs revealed considerably increased abnormality. 3. In the various types of the organic lesion, mass lesion and inflammatory lesion were common and subdural hygroma, hydrocephalus, cortical atrophy were followed. In patients with seizure, computerized transverse axial tomography gave accurate informations about the frequency, topography, and severity of morphologic abnormalities. Therefore, when organic lesion of the brain is suspected, computerized transverse axial tomography should be used for the deternination of prognosis and therapeutic plan in seizure patients.
