Abstract
The Authors observed 109 cases of infectious hepatitis who were admitted to pediatric ward of Han-Il Hospital for 6 years from sep. 1. 1971 to Aug. 31, 1977, and the following results were obtained. 1. Annual incidence: It was highest in 1976 and lowest in 1975, but we could not observe quency) 2. Age distribution: It rather frequently occured in 4, 8, and 5 years of ages. (in order of frequency) 3. Sex ratio : Almostly equal in both sexes. (male:female=54:55 cases) 4. Seasonal variation : Increased incidence in Autumn and Winter.(peak in Oct. and Jan) 5. Icteric from is more frequent than anicteric one(2.7:1) and the former showed shorter duration of illness than the latter prior to admission. 6. Clinical manifestation: Hepatomegaly(91.7%), abdominal pain and discomfort (78,9%), anorexia(78.9%) and jaundice(73.4%) were frequently found. 7. Licer function test: Serum transaminases(SGOT and SGPT), alkaline phosphatase) T.T.T. and serum bilirubin levels were increased in 95.4%, 96.2%, 95.2%, and 90.9% of measured cases respectively. The follow-up study showed that G.O.T. and G.P.T. were normalized in 81.4% by 8 weeks, Alkaline Phosphatase in 13.7% by 3 weeks, T.T.T. in 48.1% by 4 weeks, and Total Bilirubin level in 96.3% by 3 weeks after admission. 8. In most cases W.B.C. and differential counts were within normal ranges during the hospitalization period. 9. Hepatitis Bantigen study was done at the time of admission in 43 cases but the results were all negative. 10. Progenosis was excellent, there was neither post-hepatic cirrhosis nor encehalpopathy.
