- Abstract
- Measurements of the left mid-arm circumference, triceps skin-fold thickness, hematocrit and plasma total protein were performed in 1,084 healthy school children of Korean rural area. Comparing these data with that of school and normal Korean children, and obtaining the incidence of anemic children, nutritional status of school children in Korean rural area were evaluated. 1. Mean values of the mid-arm circumference and triceps skin-fold thickness were lower than that of school children in Seoul. 2. Mean values of height were similar with the standard value of normal Korean children and mean values of weight were slight higher than that of normal Korean children. 3. Kaup index is lower than 2.0 in all age groups and R?rer index is lower than that of children in Seoul. 4. Mean value of hematocrit was 40.7%. 5. Mean value of plasma total protein was 7.8?.5gm%. 6. Incidence of anemic children(Hct. Below 34) was 2.9% (31 children) and there was no signficant difference of plasma total protein between anemic group and normal children.(P>0.05).
