Abstract
A boy of 2 years and 9 months old had been deprived of the mother figure, a tendr, loving maid. After this, he made every effort to search for his lost maternal figure, in which he failed eventually. For several months, he refused to establish a relationship with the new maid, who was by no means a new mother figure. His own mother had been grossly inadequate when viewed from emotional aspect of mothering. His physical condition had gone downhill gradually, he became depressed, irritable and excitable. In the course of the time he developed severe facial tic (blinking). At this point he was hospitalized. Both the boy and his mother were placed under dynamically oriented treatment. The results were very satisfactory and all the symptoms, including tic, disappeared rapidly. It is needless to say that his mother gained sufficient insight into the problem and that she has become to provide him with more wholesome emotional environment.
