- A CASE OF POST-RABIES VACCINATION ENCEPHALITIS

- Abstract
- A 4 years and 6 months old Korean boy was admitted to Severance Hospital on 14th, November 1958, because of right side hemiplegia, aphasia, swallowing difficulty, urinary incontinence, diplopia and loss of consciousness.
Io days prior to admission the patient were bitten by a puppy at home and thereafter he reoeived Semple antirabies vaccine for 6 succesive days when headache and anorexia ensued and vaccinationed was discontinued. During following three days patient deteriolated rapidly and developed above mentioned symptoms.
On admission, clinical and laboratory studies revealed a typical case of post-rabies vaccination encephalitis and steroids therapy with symptomatic managements were started. Hospital course was uneventful. Patient recovered completely and discharged in good condition at 16th hospital day.
