- Studies on Total Urinary Excretion of 17-OHCS in Children with Normal and Various Conditions

- Abstract
- The total urinary excretions of 17-OHCS were measured on 364 urine specimen in total 243 children with
normal and various conditions. The results were as follows; Part 1 . On total urinary excretion of healthy children. (Published in the Journd of Korean Academy of Pediatrics, Vol. 4, No. 2, Nov. 1961) Pare I.
On total urinary excretion in children with various infectious diseases. 1)Epidemic encephalitis.( 15 cases). All cases showed a very high value. 2)Meningococcal meningitis. (5 cases). Three cases showed a very low value, and two cases a high value. 3) Diphtheria, (24 cases) half cases showed a very low value and the others a high value. 4) Typhoid fever(5 Cases). All cases showed a high value during acute phase. 5)Acute infectious hepatitis(2 cases). One case showed a high value and another case a normal value. Part ID. On total urinary excretion of 17-OHCS in children with allergic diseases and rheumatic fever. 1) Allergic disease group: Almost all of the cases of
acute eczema, urticaria and asthmatic bronchitis showed a low value. 2)Rheumatic fever group; no definite pattern of excretion was noted. 3)Renal disease group: Five cases of acute glomerulonephritis showed a normal or high value. 4)Blood disorder group: One case of purpura showed ahigh value and another case a low value. One case of leukemia showed a high value. One case of Banti's synrome showed a low value. Part IV
On total urinary excretion of 17-OHCS in patients with thyroid disorders. 1) Hypothyroidism group:(7 cases). Three cases who have never been treated showed a low value and four cases treated with thyroid showed a normal or high value. 2)Hyperthyroidism group:(2 cases). All cases showed a high value. 3)Two cases of Cushing syndrome showed a high value. Part V On total urinary excretion of 17-OHCS in cases with hypoxia.
1) Acute CO intoxication group: (8 cases) All cases showed a very high value. 2)Congenital heart diseases with cyanosis group: (11 cases) Ten cases showed a normal or high value and one case a low value. 3)Acute drug poisoning group: (3 cases) All cases showed a high value. 4)Two cases who were treated with ATP showed a
high value. Part VI On total urinary excretion of 17-OHCS in children during entrance examination. The examinaion group showed a high value in comparision with the usual lecture group. Part VIl On total urinary excretion of 17-OHCS in children with surgical stress. 1)20% of the cases showed a low value during 24 hours
after operation and all of them were children. 2) 66.6% of the cases showed a highest value during 24 hours after operation.
