- Clinical Observation of Congenital Pyloric Stenosis

- Abstract
- During last 12 years which was from 1958 to 1970, 11 cases of the congenital pyloric stenosis were admitted to department of pediatrics, N. M. C. and evaluated clinically. The results were obtained as follow:
1)The overall incidence of congenital pyloric stenosis was 0. 205% of all patients admitted to department of pediatrics, N. M. C. during this period, and the ratio of male to female was 9 : 2. There was no preponderance in it’s incidence according to order of sibling, gestational period or reason. 2) Vomiting was'developed during 10 to 40 days of life in 9 cases, abdominal mass was iplapated in only 3 cases and peristaltic wave was observed in all cases.
3)X-Ray of abdomen revealed pyloric stenosis in 6 cases and passage disturbances only in 2 cases. 4)Seven cases were improved with medical treatment including anticholinergics and in 4 cases who were failed with medical treatment, pyloromyotomy was done with satisfactory effects.
