- Brain Abscess in Congenital Heart Disease

- Abstract
- Clinical observation was performed on 9 cases of brain abscess which were complicated with cyanotic congenital heart disease which were seen at the Department of Pediatrics, Seoul National University Hospital, during the past 19 years from 1957 to 1976. 1. During the last 19 years 1, 296 cases of [congenital heart disease were observed, and among these, 432 cases were cyanotic. Brain abscess was observed in 9 cases representing about 2.0%
of cyanotic congenital heart disease. 2.Out of 9 cases, 8 cases were tetralogy of Fallot and one case was tricuspid atresia. Tricuspid atresia patient and two cases of Tetralogy of Fallot had been treated with shunt operation previously. 3.Three cases were treated with antibiotics, and. another 6 cases were undergone operation
with antibiotic treatment. One case was expired before surgery and other 8 cases were recovered.
