- Abstract
- A case of congenital microcolon in a 3 days old male newborn infant was presented. Entire colon showed very narrow lumen as 0. 8 cm and was associated with malrotation of the cecum, volvulus of midgut, atresia and stenosis of the terminal ileum and duplication in the terminal ileum. It is considered that this, microcolon was originated from non-use of the colon due to obstruction of the ileum. Resection of the obstructed small intestine and ileo-colic anastomosis was done, but this baby died in 12 hours after operation. Pathogenesis and review of literature were briefly discussed.
