- Abstract
- The author, during the period of August to October 1970, at the department of pediatrics of the Pusan National University Hospital, observed the lysozyme activity upon specimens of cerebrospinal fluid from 27 cases of patients with acute stage of Japanese B encephalitis, and specimens of serum from 20 cases of them ranging from 3 years to 14 years of age and also in control group, observed it upon serum from 5 cases of normal children and cerebrospinal fluid from 9 cases of them. The technique employed depended upon the lysis of M. lysodeikticus.
The following results, were obtained. 1) The lysozyme activity(12. 4±2.1/zg/ml) in serum of patient with Japanese B encephalitis became increased markedly than normal children. (4. 9±0.8/zg/ml). 2)There is no significant increase of lysozyme activity (2. l±0.7 /zg/ml) in cerebrospinal fluid of patient with Japanese B encephalitis than normal children (2.6+1. 7 /zg/ml).
