- Abstract
- Oral glucose tolerance test and continuous I.V. glucose loading test were performed on 22 normal children and 27 children with C.N.S. involvement, aged from 3 days to 14 years, to find out the influence of C.N.S. diseases on blood sugar and on appearance of urine sugar. 1.Fasting blood sugar level of 49 children was 80 土 12 mg per 10 ml and there was no significant difference between normal children and the children with C. N. S. involvement. 2.The children of C.N.S. involvement, especially the unconscious patients, showed higher level of blood sugar in both oral and I.V. glucose tolerance test than the normal children. 3.In the children of C. N. S. involvement, a few cases showed glycosuria in spite of relatively low blood sugar level. Further study will be necessary to know it’s mechanism.
